Spring in the Coachella Valley means one thing for many locals and visitors alike — polo season. With matches drawing spectators from across the region to the famed Empire Polo Club grounds in Indio, it also creates an exciting opportunity for local businesses to connect with the community in a memorable way.
Recently, the Hunter|Johnsen team had the opportunity to design a print ad for The LOCAL on 50th, a neighborhood restaurant known for its welcoming atmosphere, approachable menu, and local charm. The ad was created for the Eldorado Polo Magazine, helping position The LOCAL as a go-to destination during one of the desert’s most active and high-profile seasons.
The creative approach focused on capturing the spirit of polo season while staying true to the restaurant’s relaxed and community-driven personality. The design blended elevated yet approachable visuals with clean typography and warm imagery intended to resonate with both local residents and seasonal visitors attending polo events.
At Hunter|Johnsen, projects like this reflect what we enjoy most: helping local businesses tell their story through thoughtful creative that feels authentic to both the brand and the community it serves.
