When mystery author, Ruth E. Donald contacted the Hunter|Johnsen team in 2011, she was in need of a book cover for her first novel, Slow Curve on the Coquihalla. Twelve years later, the Hunter Rayne Highway Mysteries series now includes five novels, with the sixth soon to be released. This traditional mystery series features a “semi-“ professional sleuth, Hunter Rayne. After serving more than 20 years in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and becoming a skilled detective, Hunter resigned from the force and took to the road as a long haul trucker – but he just can’t seem to leave his detective past behind.

Hunter|Johnsen has designed all five covers. The Highway Mysteries are available in digital format through various e-book retailers, and are also available in trade paperback and hardcover editions. The first book of the series, Slow Curve on the Coquihalla, is also available as an audiobook, and the third book, Sea to Sky, is also available in a German language edition.
